My roommate, Sabby, spent the night with her boyfriend last night. She had no idea that the bathroom rug she provided was going to be thrown away, either by accident or on purpose.

She’s pretty upset about it, which I totally understand. I just hope it doesn’t ruin her view of me since I ended up being involved in the throwing away of her property.

It started with the toilet. For some reason, the toilet does not have a lot of water pressure so it takes a billion years and flushes to get anything down it. The night before last, it overflowed in the middle of the night. Sabby’s rug was completely soaked in toilet water so she placed it in a bag; she wanted to wash it later.

I was still sleeping when everyone else discovered the mess. I didn’t know about the rug until a bit later on.

Sabby left for the night and the other two roommates and I waited for the maintenance guy to fix the toilet. He left a giant mess in the bathroom (along with the toilet water on the floor) so we had to clean it without Sabby. Somehow the other two roommates thought the bag with the rug in it was a garbage bag so they filled it up with stuff they were too grossed out to keep.

I went in to clean as well and saw the bag with garbage so I just added more to it. I even asked if it was a garbage bad and they told me yes. I didnt realize the rug was in the bag. Then I chucked it down the incinerator. I didn’t even think about the rug until this morning, when Sabby came home.

She asked me “Where is my rug?”

I was like “What rug?”

“The bathroom rug.”

Then it hit me that she had told me at one point last night that she put it in a bag.

So I said, “Oh no…I think it was thrown out.”

She got mad. I tried to explain but it doesn’t really matter. Her property is gone and I feel bad for not having realized the mistake earlier.

As for the other two roommates, they started putting garbage in the bag first. Did they not realize the rug was in there too, or were they being immature? Immaturity is not a rare thing with them. -.-

I don’t know. But all I know is that now I’m going to have to pay for some of the rug and I don’t even have $1 left…and I’m not exaggerating.
